FOOD DURING PREGNANCY: ADVISABLE AND PROHIBITED

Hi my dear bloggers!! Today we talk about which foods are advisable and prohibited when a woman is pregnant. Are you interested? If so, continue reading the publication.

A balanced diet of a pregnant woman should contain the staples: fruit, vegetables, meat, etc...
  •  ADVISABLE FOOD
    • 10% of  fish, vegetables, eggs, meat, dairy products.
    • 35% must come from fats: butter, oil, margarine, dairy products and nuts .
    • 55% must come from carbohydrates: bread, potatoes, rice, corn, pasta...
  •  OTHER VITAMINS ADVISABLE DURING PREGNANCY
    • FOLIC ACID (vitamin B9): during the 3 first months (and better before pregnancy)
 Why it is important?
  1.  For the formation of the nervous system of the baby.
  2. To prevent the spina bifida., and other congenital malformations.
  3. Natural sources to folic acid: barley, fruit, green vegetables, lentils, peas, natural orange juice and rice.
    • IRON . The pregnant woman needs more than she produces because it needs more blood to carry the nutrients to the baby, through the placenta.
  1. Iron Sources: broccoli, strawberries, spinach, whole wheat bread, meat, clams, mussels...
  2. It is best digested when taken with natural orange juice.
  3. Can cause constipation.
    • ZINC AND CALCIUM : necessary for embryo development. Can be obtained from a varied diet.
  PROHIBITED FOOD
  • Cheese without pasteurizing, Moldy, soft or blue cheese  (Cabrales, Camemebert...)
  • Eggs:  avoid foods with raw or undercooked egg, such as: homemade mayonnaise, undercooked omelette, tiramisu...
  • Raw meat: sausages (Serrano ham...), carpaccio... It's very important to handwash after touching raw meat. And it's very important to wash the fruit and vegetables before consuming them.
  • Foods with vitamin A: like liver, may cause malformations in the fetus (don't consume it at least the first three months of gestation)
  • Fishraw, marinated, smoked...
